Asbestos Individual License Types
• A completed application (online or paper) • $65 application fee • A 2-inch by 2-inch color photo with a white background • A completed DSHS “Physician’s Written Statement” signed by a doctor within the last 12 months • An Initial Asbestos Worker training certificate and training ID card (if applicable) • Any Asbestos Worker Refresher training certificates and training IDs (if applicable) obtained before submission of application |

• A completed application (paper) (a) work experience as a licensed asbestos worker, asbestos abatement supervisor (during previous Texas or out-of-state licensure), AMT/PM, asbestos consultant, or asbestos project manager; (b) work experience as a MAP-accredited asbestos abatement worker, asbestos abatement supervisor, or asbestos project designer in Texas or another state, or as a MAP-accredited asbestos project monitor in another state conducting activities for which either a Texas license or a license in another state was not required, or for which the applicant held the required license; or (c) work experience performing air monitoring as a licensed or trained asbestos air monitoring technician or AMT/PM on at least five asbestos abatement projects; and (c1) work experience must have been gained while the license was current or after completion of training required under this chapter; (c2) if an applicant is relying on work experience as a trained air monitoring technician or AMT/PM, the applicant must have been authorized to perform the activity in the state where the work experience occurred, or must have performed the air monitoring within the immediate proximity and under the in-person and direct supervision of a licensed air monitoring technician, licensed AMT/PM, or licensed consultant; and (c3) no more than 30 days of air monitoring work experience as a licensed or trained asbestos air monitoring technician or AMT/PM may be counted towards the work experience requirements |

Work experience must be gained after completing a Inspector initial training course. • $130 application fee • A 2-inch by 2-inch color photo with a white background • A completed DSHS “Physician’s Written Statement” signed by a doctor within the last 12 months • An Initial Asbestos Inspector training certificate and training ID card (if applicable) • Any Asbestos Inspector Refresher training certificates and training IDs (if applicable) obtained before submission of application |

• A completed application (paper) 4. Asbestos Management planner Must meet one of the below combinations of experience and education in order to be licensed. A) Current status as Texas registered architect or Texas licensed professional engineer combined with at least 180 days of work experience preforming asbestos related activities in public buildings gained within the past 4 years. experience must contain at least 6 specifications developed, at least 3 surveys conducted, at least 10 days of project monitoring, & at least 10 days of air monitoring; all experience must be gained under the supervision of a licensed individual with the proper license for the task. B) A Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, physical science, or natural science. 2 years of work experience in an environmental field or in occupational health. experience must contain at least 6 specifications developed, at least 3 surveys conducted, at least 10 days of project monitoring, & at least 10 days of air monitoring; all experience must be gained under the supervision of a licensed individual with the proper license for the task. C) Completion of 60 college credit hours which include 30 credit hours in engineering, natural, or physical science & 9 credit hours in mathematics. 3 years of work experience in an environmental field or occupational health. At least 250 days of work experience performing asbestos related activities in public buildings obtained within the past 4 years. experience must contain at least 6 specifications developed, at least 3 surveys conducted, at least 10 days of project monitoring, & at least 10 days of air monitoring; all experience must be gained under the supervision of a licensed individual with the proper license for the task. Must provide a letter of recommendation from a supervising licensed Consultant. • Proof of Workers Compensation insurance in accordance with §296.45 or an exemption letter in accordance with §296.45 (c) (1) (A & B) |

At least 15 days of project monitoring under the supervision of licensed AMT/PM, Consultant, or Project Manager working for a licensed laboratory or Consultant Agency. • An Initial Asbestos Contractor/ Supervisor training certificate and training ID card (if applicable) • An Initial Air Monitoring Technician training certificate and training ID card (if applicable) • Any Air Monitoring Technician Refresher training certificates and training IDs (if applicable) obtained before submission of application |
