Survey Opportunity: Obtaining Funding - Current Practices, Challenges, and Successes
Iowa State University is completing a study to understand current funding practices in the senior services network, including common funding sources and challenges. The survey is anonymous and will be used by the national Nutrition and Aging Resource Center to provide more relevant and useful resources related to funding. Participate in the survey here by October 31.
El Paso Community Foundation: Do-Gooder Campaign
The Foundation partners with ABC-7 to recognize the selfless service of Borderland residents who positively impact the community and inspire others to do the same. The Do-Gooder gets a prize, and the Foundation will give $1,000 in the Do-Gooder’s name to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of their choice. Support is provided through the Foundation's Syringe Service Program, which seeks to improve the health and wellness of people affected by drug use. Mobile Beacon: WI-FLY Lending Launch Kit (November 1, 2024)
This program will give the tools needed to harness the power of the internet and get it into the hands of those who need it the most. USDA Rural Development: Farm Labor Housing Technical Assistance Grants (November 13, 2024, Letter of Intent)
Funding for nonprofits to provide technical assistance to applicants for Farm Labor Housing (FLH) loans and grants. A Letter of Intent is required. Full applications are due November 18, 2024. Award: $50,000 - $250,000 for 24 months with an extension of up to 12 months. Geographic Scope: Nationwide in specific counties. Eligible Texas Counties include Hidalgo, Hockley, Maverick, and Val Verde.
USHUD: Lead Hazard Control and Health Homes Older Adults Home Modification Grant Program (November 19, 2024)
FR-6800-N-69. Funding to make home modifications and limited repairs to meet the needs of low-income older adult homeowners. The overall program goal is to enable older adults to remain in their homes by reducing fall risk, improving general safety, increasing accessibility, and improving functional abilities in the home. At least one-third of the funding is for communities with substantial rural populations. Award: Fifteen (15) awards of $1,000,000 - $2,000,000 each for the three-year project period. Geographic Scope: Nationwide.
TXCDBG: 2025 Colonia Fund Construction Program (December 9, 2024)
The Colonia Fund - Construction program provides eligible applicants with grants to fund water and wastewater improvements, housing rehabilitation for low- to moderate-income households, and similar basic needs for colonia residents. Award: Up to $1,000,000. Geographic Scope: Except for fund categories where additional restrictions apply, a Texas County can only submit applications on behalf of eligible colonia areas within 150 miles of the Texas-Mexico border region. Any county within a standard metropolitan statistical area with a population exceeding 1,000,000 is not eligible under this fund.
TXCDBG: 2025 Community Development Fund (December 9, 2024)
The Community Development Fund is the largest fund category in the TxCDBG program. This fund is available biennially for funding through a competition in each of the 24 state planning regions. Although most funds are used for public facilities (water/wastewater infrastructure, street and drainage improvements, and housing activities), there are numerous other activities for which these funds may be used. Eligible applicants are non-entitlement general purpose units of local government including cities and counties that are not participating or designated as eligible to participate in the entitlement portion of the federal CDBG program. Non-entitlement cities that do not participate in urban county programs through existing participation agreements are eligible applicants. Award: Up to $750,000. Geographic Scope: Texas.
HRSA: Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Program for Professionals (January 21, 2025)
HRSA-25-068. Forecast 3. Funds to increase the supply of behavioral health professionals; increase the distribution of a quality behavioral health workforce; and increase access to behavioral health services. A special focus is placed on the knowledge and understanding of children, adolescents, and transitional-aged youth at risk for behavioral health disorders. Award: 101 awards from $59,600,000 in total program funding. Geographic Scope: Nationwide.
ORWH: NLM Grants for Scholarly Works in Biomedicine and Health (January 26, 2025, Letter of Intent)
PAR-23-183. Grants for the preparation of book-length manuscripts and other works of academic and or public health policy value to U.S. health professionals; public health officials; biomedical researchers; and historians of the health sciences. Eligible applicants include higher education institutions; nonprofits; and government entities. TPWD administers the National Recreational Trails Fund in Texas under the approval of the Federal Highway Administration.
