CDC's U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week
|
In a world where antimicrobial resistance poses a growing threat, the U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week (USAAW) stands as a crucial initiative to educate and mobilize communities. Join Texas DSHS and the Healthcare Safety Unit every November, to observe CDC’s U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week highlighting the steps everyone can take to improve antibiotic prescribing and use. |
CDC’s U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week:
“Fighting Antimicrobial Resistance Takes All of Us”
November 18-24, 2024:
The CDC's USAAW 2024 theme is "Fighting Antimicrobial Resistance Takes All of Us," emphasizing the One Health approach to combating antimicrobial resistance. This approach acknowledges the connection of human, animal, plant, and environmental health. The CDC aims to improve global antibiotic and antifungal drug prescribing and investment in infection prevention.
How to Participate
- Partner organizations—including U.S. federal agencies, health departments, professional associations, corporations, and patient and family representatives—are the key to success on raising awareness about the importance of appropriate antibiotic and antifungal use and the threat of antimicrobial resistance during and throughout the year. The USAAW Toolkit provides resources for participating in the theme-focused discussions.
