Childhood and Adolescent Cancer
The Texas Cancer Registry classifies childhood cancers according to the International Classification of Childhood Cancer (ICCC) definitions presented by Steliarova-Foucher et al. This system categorizes cancers based on the type of tissue affected (morphology or histology) and body location (primary site). This differs from the system used for adult cancers, which is primarily based on primary site.
The childhood (0-14) and adolescent (15-19) cancer data presented in the tables below are classified using the SEER Program’s ICCC Recode ICD-O-3/WHO2008 site group variable.
