Epinephrine Auto-Injector Policy Repository Procedures

Institutions of higher education (IHEs) are allowed to adopt and put in place epinephrine auto-injector policies (Texas Education Code, Sec. 51.882). If an IHE adopts such a policy, it must send a copy of the policy and any amendments to DSHS.

Submit a Policy

An IHE that adopts a policy must submit a PDF copy of the policy and any policy amendments to the DSHS School Health Program (program) at schoolhealth@dshs.texas.gov.

A program representative will confirm receipt of the policy or amendment within 10 business days.

IHE policies and amendments need to include the following information:

  • Name of the institution
  • Policy name
  • Date of adoption
  • Date of amendments

The program will maintain a record of the most current policy and policy amendments. IHE policies are available to the public through the DSHS open records process.

Request a Policy or Policy Amendments

To request a copy of an IHE’s policy, please submit a request by mail or email. Include the institution location if more than one campus exists in Texas.
