Dietary Supplements - Food Manufacturers, Wholesalers, and Warehouses

A dietary supplement is "a product intended to supplement the diet that bears or contains one or more of the following ingredients: a vitamin; a mineral; an herb or other botanical; an amino acid; a dietary substance for use by man to supplement the diet by increasing the total dietary intake; and 'is not represented for use as a conventional food or as a sole item of a meal or the diet'."
(Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, Section 201 (ff))

Dietary supplements are specific to all of the food labeling regulations as well as regulations specified to supplements.
